Trial OPUS - FAQ

  1. What is Trial OPUS?

    Trial OPUS is an OPUS card loaded with 10 free trips, allowing you to travel in the Greater Montreal Area by bus, metro or train.

  2. When can I use my Trial OPUS card?

    Your Trial OPUS card is already valid once you receive it. It will be sent to you by mail. It can be used 7 days a week.

    Your Trial OPUS card is valid until December 8, 2017. If you don't use your 10 transit fares byDecember 8, 2017, you won't be able to use them later. Unused fares cannot be reimbursed or transferred onto another card.

    Your Trial OPUS card will however remain valid for four years and you can reload it with other transit fares.

  3. How do I use the Trial OPUS card?

    Once you get to your point of departure (bus, train or metro), you must validate your OPUS card by placing it in front of the reader which deducts your transit fare.

    If travelling by train, you must validate your OPUS card before boarding using the ticket validators installed in the information kiosks found at every commuter train station.

    If travelling by bus, validate your transit fare by placing your card on the reader found on the bus, next to the driver.

    If travelling by metro, validate your transit fare by placing your card on the reader in order to activate the access turnstile.

  4. What do I do if I lose my OPUS card?

  5. Can I order more than one Trial OPUS card?

    No. Only one card can be issued per person. Maximum 2 OPUS cards per mailing address.

  6. Why do I have to enter a promotional code in order to register and obtain my Trial OPUS card?

    You must enter a promotional code because the number of free cards issued is limited.

  7. Why did the AMT and its partners create this promotion?

    This promotion is offered by the ministère des Transports du Québec and the Mobilité Montréal partners.

    The goal of this promotion is to allow motorists to try out public transit in order to take advantage of the benefits of commuting daily without having to worry about road congestion and, by the same token, discover all the advantages of public transit.
