The North Shore boasts a wide variety of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing that are accessible by public transit.

Ranging from easy to more intensive, they’re suitable for all levels and preferences.

These carefully groomed trails are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts to take in the region’s superb scenery while practising their favourite winter sport.

Here are five public transit options for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the North Shore.

Saint-Eustache Nature Park

Saint-Eustache Nature Park is a protected natural space that’s ideal for lovers of the great outdoors.

Easily accessible via bus line 90, it features three cross-country ski trails totalling 15.2 km and two hiking trails totalling 7.6 km.

Les Sentiers de la Presqu’île in Repentigny

At the end of bus line 9 you’ll find the Sentiers de la Presqu’île cross-country ski trails.

These trails are machine groomed for a better skiing experience.

Access to the site is free, and dogs are welcome.

A heated toilet is also available to visitors.

Sentiers de la Transterrebonne in Terrebonne

Bus lines 8, 14 and 1 provide service to the Sentiers de la Transterrebonne.

It features over 20 km of trails for all levels, groomed four times a week to ensure excellent cross-country skiing conditions.

Over this distance, cross-country skiers will also cross the Coulée ecological park.

Other activities include hiking, fat biking, tobogganing, and downhill skiing.

Petit Train du Nord in Saint-Jérôme

Located a 5-minute walk from Saint-Jérôme Station, the trail at the P’tit Train du Nord Linear Park has a gradient of just 4%, making it ideal for long-distance training, beginners or people simply wanting to keep fit.

The Saint-Jérôme sector, starting at Prévost station, boasts two 14-km corridors for classic cross-country skiing, with one machine-groomed central corridor for skate skiing and one machine-groomed corridor for hiking and fat biking.

There is no undergrowth on the trail, making it ideal with smooth gliding conditions.

Along the way, skiers will come across waxing rooms, shelters, cafés, inns, and even microbreweries.
