Nature and great food: my two favourite gems on the South Shore

Every New Year, we make ambitious resolutions that, to be honest, often don’t work out. So this year, why not go for something that’s both easy and enjoyable?

In 2024, let’s choose to take time for ourselves, to spend more quality moments doing the things we love with our favourite people. For me, that means discovering and rediscovering amazing places and eating delicious food. Easy, right? The good news is that it’s even easier than you may think. Thanks to exo’s public transit services, you can travel wherever you want on the South Shore of Montréal, which is full of treasures for you to discover. Here are my two favourite gems this season.

RécréoParc in Sainte-Catherine: an oasis of serenity

Find relaxation at RécréoParc in Sainte-Catherine, a natural jewel that’s easy to get to by bus via lines 150 (20-minute walk) and 154 (14-minute walk) that will drop you nearby. In the summer, RécréoParc has a variety of outdoor activities like camping and swimming, and the bike paths and hiking trails stay open in winter.

With snowshoe trails, cross-country skiing and skating available when the weather permits, RécréoParc is the perfect destination for people looking to recharge their batteries in a natural, relaxing setting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

But since I’m not an athlete at heart, my favourite thing about RécréoParc is its Bambou Café. Located in the centre of the park, the café has an immense glass wall with an incredible view of the St. Lawrence River. And as if the view wasn’t enough, Bambou Café also features a menu of healthy bowls, snacks and drinks, with my favourite being their divine matcha latte! With such an idyllic view year-round, it’s hard to believe you’re in a public park and not a high-end Nordic spa.

Como Pizzeria: an essential stop for everyone!

While nature and relaxation are wonderful, some days you just want to dig into some comfort food. And what dish can everyone agree on? Pizza of course! Give your taste buds an out-of-this-world flavour experience at Como Pizzeria in Delson, a popular spot with South Shore locals. Exo will help you get there via bus line 552, which stops at the corner of the street, or Georges-Gagné Terminal, which has numerous lines just a 10-minute walk away.

You can’t go wrong with the cheese pizza, a shop classic, but explore the menu further and you’ll also find an assortment of pasta dishes that are worth the trip!

Whether you’re looking for an experience in nature or some delicious comfort food, thanks to exo you can find whatever your heart desires! So make 2024 a year to discover our magnificent region!
