A trip to Brossard’s Chinatown
Did you know Brossard is home to thousands of Chinese immigrants? While the city doesn’t have an official Chinatown, the businesses located along Autoroute 10 and Taschereau Boulevard are the epicentre of the community’s commercial activities. Join us as we explore 3 must-visit spots in Brossard’s Chinatown, the most exotic place on our network.
Kim Phat grocery store
Kim Phat grocery store alone is worth the trip. You’ll discover a variety of exotic fruits and vegetables along with aquariums teeming with fish and shellfish. Take advantage to fill your basket with Asian and Latino products that are both affordable and rare (hello lychee Jell-O!) and be sure to grab some of their famous Peking duck to go.
Address: 7209 Taschereau Blvd., Brossard
The Chùa Liên-Hoa temple
The Chùa Liên-Hoa (lotus flower) temple is the oldest in North America. It was built in 1975, when Canada was welcoming its first wave of Vietnamese immigrants. The red brick pagoda—one of the finest of its kind in the Americas—is mostly visited by Buddhists of Vietnamese and Chinese backgrounds.
When you enter the temple, you’ll feel far removed from Taschereau Boulevard, despite it being a stone’s throw away. Take a seat and enjoy some calming meditation to leave your stresses behind and find inner peace.
Address: 715 Provencher Blvd., Brossard
La Maison Kam Fung restaurant
One of Québec’s premier dim sum restaurants, La Maison Kam Fung masterfully prepares these small dishes generally served in steaming baskets. The servers walk from table to table with a cart loaded with a variety of impressive dim sum plates. Customers are invited to choose from the available options and are billed per dish (or basket).
Address: 111 Taschereau Blvd, Unit 7209, Brossard
