Five lineups that are better than the OPUS card queue
Article published on September 17, 2024

Back-to-school is a time to get new clothes, a new agenda and... a new OPUS card! We all know somebody who does everything last-minute and has to line up to get their new discounted OPUS card on the last possible day, October 31. This year, leave the procrastination to your end-of-semester papers. Here are some places that are REALLY worth lining up for, to motivate you for back-to-school and use up some of the time you’ll save by getting your new OPUS card early!
La Banquise

Day or night, at 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning, the sidewalk in front of La Banquise is never empty. Waiting to get inside is part of the experience, because after an hour in line, the poutine tastes that much better!

Le Goliath

A hot summer day at La Ronde can truly test your patience. We suggest bringing a date to the Goliath lineup: there’s no better way to get to know someone than sweating for two hours in front of a roller coaster.

The airport

Going through airport security is a long process, especially when the traveller ahead of you hasn’t put their liquids in a plastic bag, despite the many posters saying so. Still, waiting in line for a flight to Bali is way better than waiting in line for your OPUS card photo, which never seems to capture your best side.

The fitting rooms at stores on Sainte-Catherine Street

The patience of the fashionistas who frequent the stores on Sainte-Catherine Street is as impressive as it is fascinating. Waiting 40 minutes to try on a pair of jeans on a Sunday afternoon? You bet! At least you’ll come away with some new threads to show off at school.
Kampai Garden

Chef Antonio Park’s bar may be spacious, but the lineups are as long as their cocktails are colourful. That said, it boasts the best decor for your Instagram stories, so waiting to get in may well be worth it.
