I’m thrilled to be writing my first article in collaboration with exo. My goal for the new year is to try new things near where I live on the South Shore of Montréal. So here are some activities you can enjoy with family or friends that are either free or affordable.

A Chambly essential

I start by riding the 105 bus to café bistro Tre Colori, located in the heart of the city of Chambly. It has a friendly atmosphere and is perfect for a well-deserved pick-me-up. The café is located right beside the restaurant sharing the same name, which is THE place to go for a delicious meal if you have the time. Whether you’re looking for a cup of java to perk you up or a peaceful space to work, café bistro Tre Colori is the perfect place for coffee lovers who enjoy a local vibe.

Fun (and free!) activities for families

Playing outdoors is so much fun in winter! That’s why I recommend a trip to parc Sainte Marie de Monnoir in Marieville. The park has so much to offer winter enthusiasts. There’s an outdoor skating rink, winter hiking trails, and if you love sledding, be sure to bring your toboggan to tackle the park’s snowy hills. With its wide array of winter activities, parc Sainte Marie de Monnoir in Marieville is an excellent place to get together with friends and family and share some memorable moments in the frosty air.

Lastly, I recommend taking a walk along Avenue Bourgogne, Chambly’s charming main street. A leisurely stroll will allow you to discover the city’s authentic and charming character. Located nearby, Fort Chambly is a must-see historical site. The magnitude of the monument and its stone ramparts make for a majestic ambiance. As you walk, be sure to stop at the artisan shops along the way. Art galleries, designer boutiques and inviting cafés provide a one-of-a-kind shopping experience and the perfect opportunity to discover local treasures as you take in the winter splendour. In short, Avenue Bourgogne in Chambly is more than just a street: it’s an immersive experience in local history, shopping and natural beauty, offering rich encounters to everyone who experiences it.
