Travelling on public transit with your pet
Article published on March 3, 2026

Did you know your pet can travel with you, free of charge, on our trains, buses, taxibuses and any other vehicle used for paratransit? But careful: some rules apply.
Our rules
You are allowed to travel with a guide dog or service dog who is used to assist with a disability or is in training, but you must keep them on a leash.
Within exo’s service area or on board an exo vehicle, all other animals must:
-
Be kept at all times in a cage or closed carrier that is specifically designed for this purpose and does not obstruct passenger movement (for example, no cages in the train aisle)
-
Behave in a way that does not interfere with the work of exo employees (for example, no growling or barking)
Also, the cage or closed carrier used to transport the animal must not take up an additional seat.
Tips for an enjoyable trip

You may travel with your pet, but only if you follow these best practices.
-
Prepare your pet
Make sure your pet is comfortable in their carrier. Get your pet used to the carrier a few days before the trip. Bring along your pet’s favourite toys and some water to keep them hydrated. -
Choose the right moment
Avoid rush hour, when trains and buses are crowded. This will help your pet feel less stressed and allow them to travel in a calmer environment. -
Respect your fellow passengers
Be considerate of other passengers and make sure your pet does not disturb them. If your pet seems agitated, calm them down and keep them closer to you. -
Clean up after your pet
If your pet leaves a mess, please be sure to clean it up to keep the space pleasant for all passengers.
