The South Shore offers numerous cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails. With a variety of routes ranging from easy paths to more technical tracks, there’s something for every style and skill level. The well-maintained trails offer the perfect opportunity to enjoy skiing or snowshoeing while taking in the region's stunning landscapes. Here are 5 trails accessible by public transit.


Beloeil Golf Club

In French only

The Beloeil Golf Club provides a free 3-km marked trail for beginners of traditional cross-country skiing. Snowshoeing is also permitted in the area.

Hikers can park in the golf course parking lot. Please note that no restrooms are available on-site.

Parc des Grèves in Sorel-Tracy

The Parc des Grèves offers 4 cross-country ski trails of varying levels of difficulty, spanning a total of 21.6 km. Snowshoeing and fat biking are also available on the dedicated walking trails.

Visitors can also take advantage of free on-site parking as well as access to the chalet to warm up.

The Route Verte in Carignan

A 4-km trail is machine-groomed after each snowfall along the Route Verte bike path.

Snowshoeing is also available next to the cross-country ski trail, on the multi-purpose path along the Chambly Canal, and on the marked trail at the northern tip of Île aux Lièvres.

Gault Nature Reserve on Mont-Saint-Hilaire

When conditions permit, skiers can enjoy an 8-km network of narrow, winding, and mountainous trails.

Entry fees apply, and online reservations are mandatory.

Fernand-Seguin Ecological Centre in Châteauguay

The Fernand-Seguin Ecological Centre features 9 km of free, well-maintained trails winding through multiple loops. This includes 5 km of ski-skating trails for avid skiers and Trail 1, an ideal choice for families teaching their kids the basics of cross-country skiing.
