Renovation work at Vendôme station: for a better and easier access!

In order to offer a more fluid and friendlier access to users, exo is making improvements to Vendôme station. The project includes rebuilding the north platform (lane 3), mostly used by the 12 Saint-Jérôme train line.

Reconstruction of the north platform (lane 3) in 2025-2026

This part of the project will bring many advantages.

  • Improve accessibility and safety for users by adding tactile warning tiles.

  • Enhance user experience by offering a modern, friendly, and comfortable environment.

The project also provides for replacing the entrances located on the west side of the station. The completion of this work is scheduled for 2027–2028.

Work calendar

The work will proceed in 2 phases:

  1. Eastern part of the platform: April to July 2025.

  2. Western part of the platform: August 2025 to spring 2026.

Nature of work

  • Taking down and rebuilding the northwest platform.

Impacts on client experience

  • Access to lane 3 from the west tunnel will be closed. Users will have to use the east tunnel to reach the lane 3 platform (see plan).

  • Lane changes

    • Lane 2: closed between 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

    • Lane 3: closed between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

  • The project consists in the reconstruction of the north platform (lane 3), mostly used by the 12 Saint-Jérôme train line. This part of the project will be completed in 2025.

    More precisely, it includes the following improvements:

    • Finalize the implementation of exo’s corporate identity at the site;

    • Improve user accessibility and safety by adding tactile warning tiles;

    • Bring the platform’s draining system up to standards;

    • Improve functioning and operation of the north platform and its accesses.

  • Reconstruction of the north platform (lane 3) will be completed in 2 phases.

    1. Rebuilding the eastern part of the platform: March 31 to July 31*, 2025.

    2. Rebuilding the western part of the platform: August 13* to spring 2026.

    * The changeover date between the two phases could vary substantially.

  • During phase 2 (August to spring 2025)

    To reach lane 3

    • Both accesses to lane 3 coming from the west tunnel will be closed. Users will have to access lane 3 by using the east tunnel (ticket office side). Signs will be posted to guide them during these changes.

    • Lane changes are also to be expected in off-peak periods.

    Temporary closing of lanes 2 and 3

    • Lane 2 closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    • Lane 3 closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    Disembarking on lane 3

    Disembarking at Vendôme station will only be possible from the front five cars.

  • No such changes are expected. However, should significant delays occur, this would have an impact on schedules. Users will be informed of any schedule change.

  • Normally no, provided that you use the correct route inside Vendôme station to reach platform 3. Signage with plans indicating the detours will be posted at all accesses to both the station and the metro (inside and outside) as well as coming from the MUHC. It will be important to follow these indications carefully to get to platform 3 as directly as possible.

  • Yes, the east tunnel access, which is accessible and offers elevators, will be open at all times.

  • No, because service will be maintained at all times.

  • The lot located at the angle of De Maisonneuve W. and Decarie boulevards will be used by the contractor. This location, which was used as a parking spot by some users, will not be accessible while the renovation work is underway.

    Everything will be done to minimize any impact the project could have on the neighborhood. However, trucks will be circulating (about 10 per day), and some noise, vibrations and dust are to be expected.

    Detail of the work in phase 2 (August to spring 2026):

    • Demolition of the western part of the north platform

    • Disposal of debris

    • Pouring of concrete

    • Reconstruction of the platform

    • Installing tactile tiles, signage and urban furniture

  • Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. However, teams could be on site as early as 6:30.

  • Noise, dust and vibration sensors will be installed at various locations near the site. The contractor must comply with the limits imposed by law and the applicable city regulations.

  • Yes, notices will be distributed to all residents of the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district and the city of Westmount to inform them of the possible impact of the renovation work.

  • MGB Associates was granted the contract following a public bid consultation.

  • Due to the early arrival of winter, the work planned for fall 2025 — including the final concrete pours — could not be carried out as scheduled. The contractor had to put the site on hold. Work will resume after the last frost.
