Regular service resumes on all exo train lines

What you should know about the service recovery

Exo is pleased to announce that it will be able to resume service on the following lines: 11 - Vaudreuil/Hudson, 12 - Saint-Jérôme and 14 - Candiac.

Trains will resume running according to the usual schedule on Monday August 26.

However, additional dedicated shuttle service will be maintained on Monday to offset any issues that may arise during the resumption of service in connection with the priority that will be given to passenger trains.

We anticipate that there will be rail congestion on the network, and we want to minimize the impact on our customers in the middle of the back-to-school period.

We would like to thank our customers for their patience during this service disruption, and we are working hard to get our train lines up and running again.

This service disruption has highlighted the benefits and importance of commuter rail lines for the greater metropolitan area.

Trains running on CN's network, 13 - Mont-Saint-Hilaire and 15 - Mascouche, continue to operate normally.

State of negotiations

Periodic updates on the progress of negotiations

Canada's Minister of Labour yesterday invoked section 107 of the Labour Act to impose binding arbitration and the extension of collective agreements in the interim.

In a unanimous decision handed down early Saturday evening, the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) implemented the demands made Thursday by federal Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon.

Rail traffic will therefore resume at 00:01 a.m. on Monday, August 26.

FAQ

Wish to know more?

Here are answers to your questions concerning the mitigation measures.

  • Negotiations concerning work conditions have been going on between CPCK and the union representing various trades of the railway sector. On August 22, as the union and the employer had not reached an agreement, CPCK declared a lockout.

On August 22, by the end of the day, the Labour Minister of Canada invoked article 107 of the Labour Law to impose arbitration between the parties and an extension of the present collective agreement in the meantime.

The time of resumption is unknown at this time. We are awaiting instructions from the CPKC before ruling on how and when commuter train service will resume.

  • Exo train services will resume normal service on Monday August 26. The additional dedicated shuttle service will be maintained on Monday to offset any issues that may arise when service resumes.

We thank you for your patience during this service disruption.

  • Several bus lines already serve our train stations. Our teams have requisitioned additional buses and are planning a temporary shuttle service, within the available budget, to cover at least part of the transit service.

  • The shuttle frequency will be planned, but buses will not be assigned a specific schedule. Traffic congestion and weather conditions may impact travel times.

Considering our limited financial and operational means, the mitigation measures to be announced will mainly replace train trips during peak periods.

  • The shuttles will not appear on trip planning tools like Chrono Mobile or Google Maps, since they are temporary measures, and as such, without a precise schedule.

  • Users will need valid fare to transfer to other transportation modes even if there will be no validation aboard the shuttles, which will start operating on August 26. Single TRAIN fares will be honoured in exo buses and at specific REM and metro stations until further notice.

    REM stations:

    • Gare Centrale
    • Panama
    • Brossard

    Metro stations:

    • Concorde
    • Montmorency
    • Cartier
    • Parc
    • Vendôme
    • Lucien-L’Allier
    • Côte-Vertu

Single train fares will no longer be accepted elsewhere on the network after August 23.

  • Users will be able to trade in the remaining trips on their train fare for a new “All Modes AB” or “10-trip, All Modes ABC” 10-trip fare, provided they pay the rate difference between the remaining trips on the old fare and the new one, in accordance with the dispositions of the ARTM’s policy regarding fare refunds and exchanges.

It is also possible at all times to trade in an already validated monthly train fare for a fare of superior value by paying the price difference between the two.

Concerning refund requests, only the cases covered in this policy will we considered.

  • The stations will remain open as well as the park-and-ride lots. The fare dispensers will be functional, but the validating terminals will be deactivated.

  • Buses will be of the coach type. They are not equipped with bike racks.
